Are India's People and Data Its Greatest Assets? Rahul Gandhi's Take in Lok Sabha
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressed on Wednesday that the true strength of India lies in its populace and emphasized the necessity of safeguarding the nation’s rich database to align with global standards; however, he criticized the Union Budget for lacking substantial measures to ensure their protection.
While addressing the Union Budget in the Lower House, Gandhi identified three critical elements as the foundation of a robust nation -- Artificial Intelligence (AI), food, and energy. He lamented that the government has neglected to tackle these pressing issues in the Union Budget.
“India's most significant asset is its 1.4 billion citizens. The global conversation is focused on AI, and the fuel for AI is data. Without data, AI is meaningless,” he stated.
He highlighted the importance of securing India’s energy interests to uphold its international stature during challenging times, accusing the government of compromising India’s interests in negotiations with the US regarding the trade deal.
“Currently, energy and finance are being weaponized globally, yet our Budget is completely mute on these matters,” remarked Rahul.
He further asserted that had the INDIA bloc been in charge of the trade discussions with the US, they would have prioritized India’s interests, ensuring fairness rather than the subjugation evident in the current deal.
“If the INDIA alliance was negotiating, we would have firmly told President Trump to treat India with equal respect. Our energy security is non-negotiable, and we will always advocate for our human resources,” he emphasized.
He reiterated that if the US aims to maintain its superpower status and protect the dollar, “we must support our people and uphold the integrity of our data.”
“India must be positioned to negotiate with its 'human capital'. Whereas the population was once viewed as a burden in the 20th century, it is now a powerful asset in the 21st century, provided it receives the right attention,” Gandhi concluded.
