According to party insiders, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a key Congress leader, has been assigned significant responsibilities for the upcoming state Assembly elections, which are scheduled for next year.
The results of the Bihar Assembly elections will be unveiled on November 14.
As per the Congress, Rahul Gandhi is set to focus on campaigning in West Bengal following the conclusion of the Bihar elections.
On Saturday, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer for West Bengal, discussed Rahul Gandhi's anticipated visit to Bengal for election campaigning. He stated, "We represent a national party, and the Congress' Central leadership will engage in campaigning in Bengal. Rahul Gandhi has strong connections with the people here. Our leadership will arrive in Bengal only after the Bihar elections wrap up."
Mir further elaborated, "Over the past six months, we have been laying the political groundwork in West Bengal. We are forming teams at the booth level. Once established, Rahul Gandhi will convey his message to the people of Bengal through our party workers, addressing pressing issues. When the elections take place in six months, the people of West Bengal will decide."
When inquired about the timing of Rahul Gandhi's visit to West Bengal, Mir mentioned, "We are aiming for Rahul Gandhi to be here before the New Year, depending on the Pradesh Congress Committee's preparations. It is crucial to strengthen the party's district, block, and booth committees to ensure our Central leadership's message reaches every part of the state. This foundational work is expected to be completed by mid-November, aligning with the conclusion of the Bihar elections. After that, Rahul Gandhi will definitely direct his attention to West Bengal."
Speculation continues regarding the role of former State Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal.
Chowdhury is currently serving as an election observer for Congress in Bihar.
Regarding the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, Mir remarked, "Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is a senior Congress leader with a history of fulfilling various responsibilities. Subhankar Sarkar was appointed State Congress President due to his capabilities. Nonetheless, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury will continue to hold a vital role."
