New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) In a significant ruling, a Special CBI court located in Jodhpur has delivered a three-year simple imprisonment sentence to Ram Hari Meena, a Senior Section Engineer (SSE) of the North-Western Railway (NWR), alongside a fine of Rs 50,000 in connection with a bribery case from 2019.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated the case on September 8, 2019, when Meena was apprehended in the act of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 25,000.

As per the CBI's findings, Meena, who was stationed in Suratgarh at that time, solicited the bribe from a complainant, promising to permit the installation of a pipeline beneath the railway track at KM 71/5.6 on the Suratgarh–Anupgarh section. After the trap operation and subsequent arrest, the CBI conducted a thorough investigation and submitted a chargesheet on December 16, 2019.

The Special Judge for CBI cases in Jodhpur took on the case, and charges were framed shortly thereafter.

According to the agency's press release, “The accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant for permitting the laying of the pipeline under the railway track at KM 71/5.6 Suratgarh Anupgarh Section.”

After a lengthy legal process and trial, the court issued its ruling on July 31, 2025. The judge found Ram Hari Meena guilty of corruption, resulting in a three-year simple imprisonment sentence and a Rs 50,000 fine imposed on him.

The CBI, in an official press release dated August 2, 2025, confirmed the sentencing and reiterated its commitment to tackling corruption cases involving public servants across various sectors, including the critical infrastructure domain of Indian Railways.

This conviction marks a notable advancement in the relentless efforts of investigative agencies to combat corruption in government services, thereby ensuring accountability among officials wielding authority.
