Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Jan 21 (NationPress) The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Rajasthan has successfully apprehended Raju Ram, also known as Raju Pilwa, the infamous leader of the '007 gang' active in the Jodhpur district, as confirmed by officials on Wednesday.
A hardened criminal with a history of offenses reported at the Lohawat police station, Pilwa was evading capture while carrying a reward of Rs 25,000. His arrest represents a critical advancement in the fight against organized crime in western Rajasthan.
Authorities revealed that Pilwa has a staggering 48 serious criminal charges against him, which include attempted murder, gun-related incidents, illegal possession of firearms, and drug trafficking.
According to ADG Dinesh M.N., this operation was initiated following precise intelligence gathered by AGTF Constable Sunil. A specialized task force was organized under the leadership of SP Gyanchand Yadav and ASP Narottam Lal Verma, led by DSP Phoolchand Tailor and ASI Rakesh Jakhar.
On Tuesday, Pilwa was spotted at Shatabdi Circle in Jodhpur, allegedly plotting a visit to the Sanwariya Seth temple. He mistakenly believed that blending in with devotees would help him avoid law enforcement.
Acting on the intelligence tip, the AGTF team set a trap and swiftly captured him before he could react. Police confirmed that Pilwa is the current leader of the 007 gang, which was originally established by Rajuram, alias Raju Manju. Even while on the run, he continued orchestrating organized criminal activities through his network.
The reward was declared following a complaint lodged on October 11, 2025, at the Lohawat police station by Shravan Kumar Bishnoi from Fatehsagar village. The complaint detailed how Pilwa and his associates pursued him in multiple vehicles, opened fire with lethal intent, injured him, and subsequently torched his vehicle.
Pilwa is also implicated in the shooting incident at the Dechu police station and the murder case of Hanuman Sai, which led to communal unrest and arson in Samrau village.
Officials described the arrest as a significant setback for the 007 gang, reinforcing AGTF's unwavering stance against organized crime.
The accused has been transferred to Lohawat police for further inquiries and interrogation. Officials praised DSP Phoolchand Tailor, ASI Rakesh Jakhar, Constables Maganaram and Sumer Singh, and particularly Constable Sunil, whose intelligence contributions were critical to this operation.
