New Delhi, Oct 17 (NationPress) Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is set to achieve a significant milestone in defence production on Saturday as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will jointly flag off the inaugural batch of BrahMos missiles produced at the BrahMos Aerospace Unit located in Sarojini Nagar.

This remarkable occasion will not only signify a crucial advancement for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) but will also bolster India's ambition for self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

BrahMos Aerospace, renowned for creating the world’s fastest and most sophisticated precision strike missile system, has successfully launched the first batch of BrahMos missiles from its new Integration and Test Facility in Lucknow.

This cutting-edge facility, inaugurated on May 11, 2025, is outfitted with advanced systems for missile assembly, integration, testing, and final quality assessments. After successful trials, these missiles will be prepared for deployment by the Indian Armed Forces.

During the ceremony, the Defence Minister and Chief Minister will inaugurate the Booster Building and observe a live demonstration of the booster docking process. They will also review presentations at the Airframe and Avionics, Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI), and Warhead Buildings, along with the BrahMos simulator equipment.

The event will also feature a tree-planting initiative, a demonstration of a storage trolley, the issuance of a GST bill and a cheque, and a showcase of a mobile autonomous launcher. DG (BrahMos) Jaytirth R. Joshi will present the GST bill and cheque to CM Yogi Adityanath, symbolizing revenue generation for the state.

The ongoing production of BrahMos missiles is expected to generate consistent GST revenue and create employment opportunities for highly skilled youth in Uttar Pradesh.

The BrahMos facility in Bhatgaon, Sarojini Nagar, stands out as one of the most pivotal projects within the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, conducting the entire process of assembly, integration, and testing to the highest technical standards.

With the dispatch of its first missile shipment, UP has established itself as a vital contributor to the national initiative, 'Make in India, Make for the World'.

The Lucknow unit is the first in the corridor to manage the complete manufacturing and testing process domestically, reinforcing both strategic autonomy and industrial growth.

BrahMos Aerospace has rapidly expanded its production capabilities to meet the growing needs of the Indian Armed Forces. The Lucknow facility aims to ensure timely fulfillment of domestic defence requirements and position itself for future international exports. This dedicated unit marks a significant step towards establishing Uttar Pradesh as a prominent aerospace and defence manufacturing hub.

The advanced technologies developed here will facilitate the creation of next-generation variants of the BrahMos missile system, further enhancing India's defence capabilities.
