Mumbai, Dec 22 (NationPress) In response to the results of the Maharashtra local body elections, BJP MLA Ram Kadam stated on Monday that the Mahayuti alliance approached the electoral contest with a strong sense of confidence and a winning mentality, which ultimately resulted in a significant victory.
In an interview with IANS, Kadam attributed the triumph of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its coalition partners to the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the development initiatives implemented across the state in recent years.
He emphasized that the performance of the ruling government provided a solid groundwork for success, first in the Assembly elections and now in the local body elections.
"Under Chief Minister Fadnavis, the progress made in Maharashtra over the past few years has led to extraordinary success in the Assembly elections. Thanks to these endeavors and accomplishments, we achieved impressive results in the Assembly, and from the outset, we carried the spirit of victory with us," Kadam stated.
Focusing on the government's development agenda, the BJP MLA mentioned that infrastructure projects and welfare schemes have significantly benefited various segments of society, especially farmers.
"We are constructing roads, and farmers are reaping substantial benefits. In contrast, the Opposition entered the elections with a defeatist attitude from Day One," he remarked to IANS.
Kadam further criticized the Opposition for continuously making excuses rather than engaging in serious campaigning.
"They talked about delaying elections, accused us of vote theft, raised concerns over EVMs and voter rolls, and made numerous other excuses. These issues emerged only after their defeat. During the campaign, the Opposition barely made any public appearances. There were no rallies or grassroots activities," he said.
In stark contrast to this, Kadam noted that the Mahayuti's strategy involved the BJP leadership and alliance partners actively reaching out to voters.
"Our Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers were consistently present on the ground, campaigning and organizing major rallies. With courage, determination, and the relentless effort of our karyakartas, we entered the electoral battlefield with confidence. That is why we emerged victorious, while the Opposition faced defeat," he added.
Another BJP figure, Sanjay Sarawagi, remarked, "The party's popularity is on the rise nationally. In the Maharashtra municipal elections, the BJP and NDA achieved a significant victory, nearly wiping out the Opposition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to inclusive development, which is why the mandate in favor of the BJP continues to grow. I extend my congratulations to the leadership and party workers."
The ruling Mahayuti alliance, which consists of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, recorded a decisive victory in the elections for 288 municipal councils and nagar panchayats, winning 207 municipal president positions and leaving the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) with only 44.
Final results published by the State Election Commission late Sunday night revealed that the BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 117 municipal president posts, followed by the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena with 53 and the NCP with 37.
Among the Opposition, the Congress secured 28 posts, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction won seven, and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) managed only nine, further highlighting the ongoing dominance of the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra.
