Varanasi/Bhopal, March 31 (NationPress) In an important move to enhance cultural and religious tourism between the two neighboring states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh — officials signed two pivotal agreements during a business summit in Varanasi on Tuesday.
One of the agreements was established between the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust in Varanasi and the Mahakaleshwar Temple Trust located in Ujjain, while the other was between the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh aimed at fostering cooperation in the realm of One District-One Product (ODOP) initiatives, as stated in an official release.
The agreements were signed at the 'Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh Cooperation Conference' attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav along with several ministers from the Uttar Pradesh cabinet.
During his address, Chief Minister Yadav highlighted that just as Varanasi is renowned for its religious and cultural importance, Ujjain holds a significant spiritual status.
He emphasized the deep-rooted geographical, cultural, spiritual, and historical connections shared between the two states.
Recognizing the vast potential for religious tourism in both Ujjain and Kashi, he mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started significant development projects.
The Chief Minister further noted that both states are entering a new era of spiritual and religious tourism, stating, "Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are collaboratively developing a shared religious tourism circuit, which will enhance tourism and offer devotees a seamless and enriching pilgrimage experience."
The 'Sammelan' (conference) was organized to create a unified platform to showcase the industrial strengths, traditional crafts, ODOP and GI-tagged products, agricultural and food products, investment opportunities, and tourism potential of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh's Minister for Industrial Development and Investment Promotion, Nand Gopal Gupta, remarked that the 'Sahyog Sammelan' (Cooperation Conference) exemplifies the profound understanding between these neighboring states.
He also noted that regions such as Baghelkhand, Gwalior–Chambal, and Bundelkhand in Madhya Pradesh have strong ties with Uttar Pradesh.
