Residents of Mehrauli Constituency Criticize AAP Government for Stagnant Development Over Past Five Years

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) In light of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) public engagement efforts leading up to the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi, the inhabitants of the Mehrauli Assembly constituency assert that no significant developmental initiatives have been executed over the last five years under the current administration headed by Chief Minister Atishi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its criticism of the Delhi government, highlighting its failure to initiate any development in the constituency, represented by MLA Naresh Yadav.
Numerous residents of Mehrauli have voiced their concerns to IANS regarding the absence of essential civic amenities such as electricity, water, roads, and sewage systems.
Local resident Suraj expressed, "No work has been done here. The commitment to supply Ganga water remains unfulfilled. There has been no development for the past decade; even the water lines laid during the previous Congress government are still in use. We lack proper water and sewage facilities, with raw sewage spilling onto the streets. No efforts have been made to address this issue. The promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party have yet to be realized. In our neighborhoods, senior citizens have not received their monthly pensions on time. With elections approaching, pension applications are now being distributed, and various announcements are being made solely for electoral advantage."
Another resident, Ram Prakash, remarked, "I am dissatisfied with the performance of the current AAP government and our local MLA. The state of the roads in our area is deplorable, and we continue to face drinking water shortages. Naresh Yadav has been the MLA here for a decade, yet no real development has occurred. He only appears during election time to solicit votes. Our roads are riddled with potholes, and contaminated water flows from the taps, causing health issues among residents."
He continued, "Accidents frequently occur due to the poor road conditions, leading to injuries. The promise of constructing roads comparable to those in foreign nations has not been fulfilled. The condition of Mohalla clinics is appalling, resembling garbage dumps, where some AAP affiliates gather to drink and socialize. If you wish, I can take you to Lado Sarai or Mukhiya Colony to demonstrate that no developmental work has occurred there. The AAP only invests in promotional activities through advertising, yet the truth is that no meaningful progress has been made. The entire population of Mehrauli is dissatisfied with them."
Another local, Mahendra, stated, "The AAP's pledges to construct beautiful roads and provide facilities akin to those in foreign countries remain unactualized. Discussions about resolving the water shortage have also gone unaddressed. There has been no advancement in terms of roads, water, or other basic necessities. The MLA has not delivered any notable work, and I am completely dissatisfied with him. Only unfulfilled promises remain."
Local resident Tara Devi added, "My area suffers from severe water scarcity. We receive no water during the summer months, and only a trickle during winter. The roads are in a terrible state, and the drains constantly overflow. There is no one to address our issues. Drainage water floods the entire street, and we endure significant hardship."
