Concerns Emerge Over Local Infrastructure and Public Services in CM Atishi's Constituency

Govindpuri, Dec 22 (NationPress) With Delhi Chief Minister Atishi once again being put forward as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Kalkaji seat in the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections, locals are raising their voices about the deteriorating state of infrastructure and public services.

IANS conducted interviews with various residents from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency, who expressed divided opinions regarding Atishi's five-year term and the overall performance of the government.

Brajesh Kumar, a Govindpuri local, remarked that while some progress has been made in the last five years, there is still a significant amount of work that needs attention. He pointed out the persistent issues with the road in Gali No 2, which remains in disrepair, posing challenges for children and two-wheeler riders.

"Arvind Kejriwal had assured that roads would be free of potholes within a month, but these promises have proven to be untrue. The bad condition of the roads leads to frequent accidents here. Additionally, we encounter water shortages during the summer, and escalating electricity bills are concerning. The government needs to prioritize development initiatives rather than just providing free services. I urge Atishi and the local MLA to address the road repairs," he stated.

Hemant Sahni, another resident, raised the issue of damaged roads resulting from sewer line installations. Despite numerous complaints made to the local councilor, he mentioned that no remedial action has been taken.

"The hygiene standards are lacking, and the presence of stray animals is a continuous issue," Sahni added.

Vidish Kaushik echoed similar sentiments, mentioning the frequent accidents caused by stray animals. He recalled that former Chief Minister Kejriwal had pledged to establish shelter homes for stray animals when his administration assumed control of the MCD, but that promise remains unfulfilled.

An elderly resident from Kalkaji expressed their dissatisfaction with the state of cleanliness and infrastructure.

"As elections draw near, candidates come seeking votes, but no one seems to be working. Garbage is left on the streets all day, and stray animals wander freely. This poses serious risks for pedestrians, and many have suffered injuries. The water supply is inconsistent, sometimes arriving late at night. Who can wait for water until 1 a.m. during the winter?" they lamented.

As the election period approaches, these concerns continue to influence the local atmosphere, with many residents yearning for enhancements in infrastructure and public services in the near future.
