Residents of Mehrauli Constituency Criticize AAP Government for Lack of Development in Past Five Years

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) With the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) public outreach initiative gearing up for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Delhi, residents of the Mehrauli Assembly constituency have expressed their dissatisfaction, claiming that there has been a complete lack of developmental activities over the past five years under the leadership of Chief Minister Atishi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its criticism of the Delhi government, pointing out the absence of progress in the constituency, where current MLA Naresh Yadav represents AAP.

Numerous residents from Mehrauli have shared their concerns with IANS regarding the inadequate basic civic amenities, including electricity, water, roads, and sewage.

One local inhabitant, Suraj, remarked, "No work has been accomplished here. The commitment to provide Ganga water remains unfulfilled. For the last decade, no development has occurred, and we continue to rely on the old water infrastructure established during the previous Congress government. We lack proper water and sewage systems, leading to sewage overflow on the streets. No efforts have been made to rectify these issues. The promises made by Aam Aadmi Party have yet to materialize. In our neighborhoods, senior citizens have not received timely monthly pensions. As elections draw near, pension applications are being distributed along with many announcements seemingly aimed at gaining electoral favor."

Another local resident, Ram Prakash, expressed dissatisfaction with both the AAP government and the local MLA. "The condition of our roads is deplorable, and we continue to face drinking water issues. Our area’s MLA, Naresh Yadav, has been in office for the past decade without making any significant improvements. His visits are limited to election seasons when he seeks votes. The roads are riddled with potholes, and contaminated water flows from the taps, causing illnesses among residents."

He added, "Accidents frequently occur on our roads, resulting in injuries. The promise of constructing roads comparable to those in foreign nations has not been fulfilled. The state of the Mohalla clinics is so dire that they resemble garbage dumps, with some AAP members reportedly indulging in alcohol there. If you wish, I can take you to Lado Sarai or Mukhiya Colony to demonstrate that no development has taken place. The AAP prioritizes spending on promotional advertisements while neglecting real progress. We, the people of Mehrauli, are deeply dissatisfied with them."

Another resident, Mahendra, stated, "The Aam Aadmi Party’s assurances regarding the construction of beautiful roads and provision of amenities similar to those in developed countries remain unfulfilled. Discussions about resolving water shortages have also yielded no results. There has been no advancement in essential services like roads and water supply. The MLA has not undertaken any noteworthy initiatives, and I am completely dissatisfied with him. Only empty promises have been made, and none have been realized."

Tara Devi, a local resident, lamented, "My area faces significant water shortages, particularly in summer when we often receive no water at all. Some water is available during winter. The roads are in a terrible state, and drains overflow into the streets. There is no one to address and resolve our issues. We endure considerable hardship due to the constant flow of drain water in our streets."
