Residents of Mehrauli Constituency Assert No Development Has Occurred in the Past Five Years

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ramps up its public outreach efforts in light of the approaching Assembly elections in Delhi, residents of the Mehrauli Assembly constituency are voicing their concerns, claiming that no significant developmental initiatives have been conducted in the last five years under the leadership of Chief Minister Atishi.
In a pointed critique of the Delhi government for its inaction in the area, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its criticism of the AAP government, highlighting the current MLA Naresh Yadav's tenure in the Mehrauli constituency.
Local inhabitants have expressed their frustrations to IANS regarding the absence of fundamental civic amenities such as electricity, water, roadways, and sewage systems.
Suraj, a local resident, stated, "No work has been accomplished here. The commitment to supply Ganga water remains unfulfilled. Over the last decade, there has been no development, and the ancient water lines installed during the previous Congress regime are still in use. We are facing dire shortages of water and sewage services, with sewage spilling onto the streets. No efforts have been made to rectify this situation. The promises made by the AAP have yet to be realized. Even in local neighborhoods, senior citizens are not receiving their monthly pensions punctually. As election time approaches, pension applications are being distributed, and numerous promises are being made solely for electoral advantages."
Another resident, Ram Prakash, expressed dissatisfaction with the work of the current AAP government and the local MLA. "The state of the roads in our neighborhood is deplorable, and we continue to grapple with drinking water issues. The AAP MLA, Naresh Yadav, has represented this area for a decade, yet no development has occurred. He only appears seeking votes during election periods. Our roads are riddled with potholes, and contaminated water flows from the taps, causing illness among residents."
He further commented, "Accidents frequently happen on these roads, resulting in injuries. The promise to construct roads comparable to those in developed countries has not been honored. The condition of the Mohalla clinics is so poor that they resemble garbage dumps, where some AAP members gather to drink and socialize. If you wish, I can take you to Lado Sarai or Mukhiya Colony to demonstrate that no development has taken place there. The AAP is more focused on promotional spending through advertisements, yet the reality is that no substantial progress has been made here. The residents of Mehrauli are dissatisfied with their governance.
Another resident, Mahendra, stated, "The AAP's promises for our region, like constructing beautiful roads and providing facilities akin to those in developed countries, remain unfulfilled. The discussions surrounding the resolution of the water crisis have also not materialized. There has been no enhancement in roads, water supply, or other essential services. The MLA has not undertaken any noteworthy initiatives, and I am deeply dissatisfied with him. Nothing tangible has been accomplished; only unfulfilled promises remain."
Tara Devi, another local resident, shared, "My area suffers from severe water shortages. During the summer months, we receive no water at all, and only a trickle comes in winter. The roads in our locality are also in terrible shape, with overflowing drains creating further issues. There is no one to address our concerns, and drain water continues to flow down the streets. We endure significant hardship."
