What Happened When Revanth Reddy Shook Hands with KCR?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Dec 29 (NationPress) In a surprising display of camaraderie, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended a warm greeting to his predecessor and current Leader of Opposition, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, during the Telangana Assembly session. As the winter session commenced, Revanth Reddy approached KCR personally to exchange handshakes and inquire about the well-being of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief.
This interaction comes at a time when the two leaders have been engaged in a heated exchange regarding irrigation projects and river water distribution. KCR made a rare appearance in the Assembly, arriving early to take his seat.
Upon entering the Assembly hall, Revanth Reddy immediately approached KCR for a handshake, followed by several ministers and MLAs, including Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, and Naveen Yadav, the newly elected Congress MLA, who sought KCR's blessings.
The goodwill gesture stands in stark contrast to the ongoing war of words between the two leaders. The BRS has accused Revanth Reddy of using derogatory remarks against KCR and even expressing wishes for his demise.
During a recent announcement regarding a mass movement related to the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project, KCR criticized the Congress government, threatening to expose their betrayal. In response, CM Revanth Reddy issued a warning, stating that KCR's supporters would retaliate, asserting he would never allow KCR or his family to regain power.
“KCR's past actions led to my imprisonment, and I believe divine justice was served when he injured himself shortly after my inauguration. He has effectively imprisoned himself in his farmhouse, surrounded by my police,” stated Revanth Reddy in a public address on December 24.
KCR's son, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), responded by cautioning the Chief Minister to avoid misinterpreting restraint as weakness, emphasizing that repeated personal attacks are unacceptable. KTR expressed his readiness to respond assertively but refrained out of respect for the constitutional position held by Revanth Reddy.
