Does CM Revanth Reddy Really Understand River Water Issues?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Dec 23 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his lack of understanding regarding river water issues, labeling the irrigation ministers as dangerously uninformed.
During a celebration for newly elected Sarpanches, Deputy Sarpanches, and Ward Members at the BRS party office in Nalgonda, Rama Rao commended the grassroots leaders, stating their success has rejuvenated the party's morale.
Popularly known as KTR, he accused the Congress government of engaging in diversionary tactics and theatrics to evade serious questions raised by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) concerning irrigation projects and governance.
KTR challenged the Chief Minister to cease leaking information from behind closed doors and instead confront the public directly to clarify what legal actions he plans to take. “You are also the Home Minister. If you possess any courage, step forward and communicate openly instead of resorting to gossip and leaks,” KTR stated.
He heavily criticized the Congress government's approach to managing Krishna river waters, asserting that the Chief Minister is lacking even fundamental knowledge in this area.
KTR mocked irrigation ministers for their admissions of being unprepared to respond to inquiries about water issues and for making absurd claims, accusing them of misleading the public while being entirely out of touch with farmers’ needs.
He emphasized that while KCR has been vigorously advocating for Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna waters, the Congress government lacks both the capability and the bravery to adequately address these challenges.
He alleged that the government is intentionally obstructing vital irrigation projects such as the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.
“While BRS has completed 90% of the project, this administration has squandered two years without finishing the remaining 10%,” he pointed out, adding that the failure to submit Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and attempts to minimize project scopes equate to a betrayal of Telangana’s interests.
Addressing cooperative societies, KTR challenged the Congress government to conduct elections immediately if they genuinely believe they have served the farmers well.
He asserted that the government is fearful of facing elections due to public discontent and is instead appointing individuals to positions through nominations.
“If elections were held, farmers would deliver a fitting lesson to Congress,” he warned.
KTR noted the growing discontent among farmers and agricultural workers, evident in the recent Sarpanch election outcomes.
He accused the government of neglecting promises like Rythu Bandhu for tenant farmers, financial aid for farm laborers, and other welfare commitments, using case leaks against KCR to distract from these failures.
KTR urged party members to focus intensely, likening their concentration to Arjuna targeting the eye of a bird, as they hold the Congress government accountable for its unfulfilled “420 promises.”
He reiterated that BRS will not succumb to intimidation or legal threats and will persist in advocating for justice for Telangana’s farmers.
