Mumbai, Feb 16 (NationPress) The Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended the suspected shooter who fired shots outside the residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty earlier this month, as confirmed by police officials on Monday.

According to the Mumbai Police, the alleged shooter was captured in Rajasthan. In addition to this individual, the Crime Branch has detained a total of six suspects. Some others were also taken into custody in Uttar Pradesh.

With these recent arrests, the total number of individuals involved in this case has risen to 11.

On February 11, five individuals implicated in the Rohit Shetty shooting incident were charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999 (MCOCA) after being presented in a special court.

While the police custody of these five suspects had ended, MCOCA has now been applied to all arrested individuals, who were subsequently brought before the special MCOCA court.

The special court has placed all five defendants in police custody until February 17, 2026. Although the Mumbai Crime Branch requested a 15-day custody extension, the court only granted police custody until the specified date.

Earlier this month, five bullets were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence in Juhu. The investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch revealed that the vehicle used for the shooting originated from Pune.
