Guwahati, April 19 (NationPress) The Railway Protection Force (RPF) under the Northeast Frontier Railway has once again showcased its steadfast resolve to ensure the safety and security of passengers through a series of effective operations carried out at various locations, officials announced on Sunday.
NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma reported that a team from the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS), Rangiya, detained an individual aboard a train on April 13 for his involvement in the theft of passenger items. A stolen mobile phone worth around Rs 40,000 was recovered from him. The individual, along with the recovered item, was subsequently handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Rangiya, where a case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In a separate operation on April 14, personnel from RPF, Katihar (East) apprehended an individual at the Katihar Railway Station. A stolen mobile phone valued at approximately Rs 15,000 was seized. The accused was then transferred to GRP, Katihar, which registered a case under the appropriate sections of BNS.
On the same day, RPF personnel from CPDS, Guwahati, effectively detained another individual at Guwahati Railway Station. The team recovered a stolen mobile phone approximated at Rs 15,000. This person was also handed over to GRP, Guwahati, where a case was logged under relevant provisions of BNS.
Sharma emphasized that the RPF Post in New Bongaigaon, continuing its crackdown, apprehended another individual at Bongaigaon Railway Station on April 16, who was found in possession of a stolen mobile phone worth nearly Rs 10,000. This accused was turned over to GRP, New Bongaigaon, for further legal action.
These successful operations underscore the vigilance and swift actions of RPF personnel in protecting passengers and their belongings. The NFR reaffirms its dedication to maintaining a secure travel environment and encourages passengers to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to railway authorities, as stated by the CPRO.
