Las Vegas, Jan 6 (NationPress) Roh Tae-moon, the CEO of Samsung Electronics, announced that the company will concentrate its immediate efforts in robotics on automating manufacturing processes, adopting a gradual approach to business expansion.
"We are emphasizing our robotics initiatives to streamline our manufacturing facilities," stated Roh, co-CEO, during a press briefing at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
"Leveraging the skills and expertise we acquire, we plan to extend our reach into both B2B and B2C markets," he continued.
This announcement follows Samsung's acquisition of the South Korean robotics startup Rainbow Robotics last year, aimed at enhancing its robotics capabilities, including the development of humanoid robots.
Previously, the company unveiled its spherical smart home robot, Ballie, at CES 2024 and indicated its ambition to create humanoid robots that will establish a significant presence in the industry. However, Roh emphasized that the company is prioritizing applications with tangible operational benefits, according to reports from Yonhap news agency.
"Once our program achieves a specific threshold, robots will first be integrated into our manufacturing sites before being made available to the public," said Roh.
He also highlighted that robotics will be a crucial focus for Samsung Electronics in future mergers and acquisitions (M&As).
"Our M&A strategy will concentrate on four key sectors: HVAC, automotive components, medical technology, and robotics," he stated. "We intend to invest in these domains and pursue M&As that will benefit consumers and society through technological innovation."
Recently, Samsung Electronics revealed several significant M&A transactions, including the acquisition of the German HVAC company FlaktGroup Holding GmbH and an automotive technology division from ZF Friedrichshafen AG in Germany.
To foster innovation led by artificial intelligence (AI), Roh mentioned that Samsung Electronics plans to incorporate AI across its complete product range.
"AI will be embedded in every Galaxy smartphone, premium television, and Wi-Fi-enabled home appliance," he stated. "Our goal is to ship a total of 400 million units of these products this year."
