Chennai, Jan 18 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu's Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, P.K. Sekarbabu, on Sunday, vehemently criticized the AIADMK leadership, claiming that the main opposition party is devoid of originality and is simply copying the welfare and development programs initiated by the ruling DMK government.
During a press conference following an inspection of multiple infrastructure projects under the North Chennai Development Plan on Wall Tax Road, Sekarbabu expressed that AIADMK's general secretary, Edappadi K Palaniswami, has not shown any signs of independent thought. “If EPS had innovative ideas, we would witness fresh concepts and initiatives. His thinking lacks originality,” stated the Minister. He accused AIADMK of relying solely on replicating DMK schemes with slight enhancements.
“The AIADMK merely mirrors DMK’s actions and adds a mere 10 percent on top. EPS’s initial election declarations clearly indicate that the party is following the path set by the Chief Minister,” he added.
Sekarbabu also took a firm stance against recent comments made by former state BJP president K Annamalai, who had used a Telugu proverb to criticize DMK's election pledges. In response, the Minister cited another Telugu proverb: “If there’s no food to eat, why grow a moustache?”
He remarked that Annamalai, who currently lacks an official role, should first prove his credentials before questioning the government’s policies and commitments.
Earlier, the Minister conducted a thorough review of the development projects managed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). This included enhancing Wall Tax Road, Thanneer Thotti Street, and Anna Pillai Street.
He also examined a comprehensive public complex that includes a newly established dialysis center, 700 residences, a playground, a Corporation press, and a community hall.
Furthermore, Sekarbabu reviewed the refurbishment of the Moolakothalam sports complex and the Vallalar Nagar bus terminus at Thanga Salai. He mentioned that the government aims to complete and inaugurate at least 40 projects for public accessibility prior to the elections.
The Minister also announced that the 770 housing units constructed near the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital will soon be inaugurated by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.
He noted that the Chief Minister has instructed officials to upgrade 57 senior citizens’ homes throughout Chennai and enhance the daily food allowance for residents, highlighting the government's commitment to welfare and inclusive urban development.
