What Are the Seven Bills Scheduled for Discussion Before the Parliament Monsoon Session?

New Delhi, July 17 (NationPress) Seven bills have been earmarked for consideration and approval prior to the Parliament's monsoon session, which is set to commence on July 21. In addition, eight other bills are slated for introduction, review, and approval.

The bills intended for introduction, evaluation, and passage span various sectors including finance, commerce, education, sports, mining, and culture. Noteworthy among these are the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill.

These legislative measures aim to revise the Manipur Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and amend specific tax laws to enhance the ease of conducting business.

Also on the agenda is a bill concerning education. An official has indicated that the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 will be introduced to include IIM Guwahati in the framework of the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017.

The Geoheritage Sites and Geo-relics (Preservation and Maintenance) Bill, 2025 will also be presented, which focuses on the declaration, preservation, and maintenance of geoheritage sites and geo-relics deemed of national significance for research, education, awareness, and tourism.

The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025 aims to facilitate the recovery of critical minerals, expand contiguous areas within mining leases for deep-seated minerals, and broaden the scope of the National Mineral Exploration Trust.

Additionally, the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 are scheduled for discussion during the session.

The Sports Governance Bill seeks to promote sports, ensure athletes' welfare, and establish ethical standards for sports governance while providing mechanisms for resolving sports-related grievances and disputes.

The Anti-Doping Bill aims to align the definitions and provisions of the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022 with the World Anti-Doping Agency Code and global best practices, ensuring the independence of the National Anti-Doping Appeal Panel.

Among the bills up for consideration is the Income Tax Bill, 2025, which replaces the Income Tax Act, 1961, while retaining most of its provisions, including tax rates and violations. Its primary goal is to simplify the language and eliminate redundant clauses. It was introduced in the Lok Sabha on February 13, 2025, and directed to the Lok Sabha's select committee.

The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024 is also part of the parliamentary agenda, aimed at securing reserved seats for scheduled tribes in the Goa legislative assembly. This bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 5, 2024, and is currently pending.

Other bills under consideration include the Indian Ports Bill, 2025, the Merchant Shipping Bill 2024, and the Coastal Shipping Bill 2024.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to take place from July 21 to August 21, 2025. According to the parliamentary bulletin, there will be a total of 21 sittings, with no sessions scheduled from August 12 to August 18, 2025.
