Bhopal, March 10 (NationPress) A tragic accident occurred early Monday morning in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, claiming the lives of at least seven individuals and leaving 14 others injured following a collision between a truck and an SUV.

As reported by police, the incident took place around 2:30 a.m. near the Upni petrol pump on the Sidhi-Bahri Road, which connects to Deusar and Singrauli.

Officials confirmed that the crash was a head-on collision that resulted in the immediate death of seven individuals at the scene.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Gayatri Tiwari indicated that the SUV, which was operating as a taxi service and carrying a family, was en route to Maihar, while the truck was traveling from Sidhi to Bahri.

Nine of the injured were transferred to a nearby hospital in Rewa for further medical attention, while others received treatment at the Sidhi district hospital, Tiwari noted.

According to DSP Tiwari, seven individuals in the SUV lost their lives, and a total of 14 passengers sustained injuries in the incident. The injured were admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital (SGMH) in Rewa, located approximately 70 km from the accident site.

Of the nine victims recovering at Sanjay Gandhi hospital, three were reported to be in serious condition and were being moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), officials stated.

A team of senior medical professionals was called in for emergency care during the late-night hours.

Following the collision, the truck driver attempted to escape but was caught by local residents and handed over to the police. Locals were the first responders after hearing the loud crash.

"We worked to ensure all injured individuals received hospital care. Family members of the deceased have also arrived at the hospital this morning. The identification of the bodies is underway. A case has been filed, and further investigations are ongoing," DSP Tiwari added.
