Hyderabad, Dec 23 (NationPress) The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, expressed his approval on Tuesday regarding the reported choice of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to send notices to former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao in connection with the ongoing phone tapping investigation.
The BJP leader, however, voiced skepticism about whether the state government would pursue the investigation to its logical end.
In a post on 'X', Bandi Sanjay accused K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) of not only orchestrating the tapping of numerous leaders' phones, including his own, but also creating discord within many families.
He noted that they even tapped the phones of his daughter and son-in-law, thus undermining the integrity of the esteemed SIB system.
The Minister referred to allegations that the phones of KCR's daughter, K. Kavitha, and her husband were also subjected to tapping.
“There are claims they misused the SIB to extort money and blackmail contractors and political figures. A comprehensive investigation into these matters is essential,” he stated.
Bandi Sanjay questioned whether the government would merely issue notices and absolve itself of responsibility.
“Will there be a thorough inquiry to uncover the culprits? That is uncertain. While various episodes of the TV serials that aired during the phone tapping scandal have concluded, the case itself continues to drag on,” he remarked.
The BJP leader asserted that investigation officials should operate free from any pressure. He emphasized the urgent need to unveil the conspiracies behind the phone tapping.
Bandi Sanjay had previously presented himself before the SIT in August to provide his testimony as a witness.
He subsequently claimed that KCR had tapped the phones of his daughter K. Kavitha, son-in-law Anil Kumar, and nephew, former minister T. Harish Rao.
He alleged that during the BRS administration, the phones of politicians were tapped under the guise of monitoring Maoists and that vast sums of money were embezzled through this phone tapping.
The BJP leader also accused KCR and KTR of misusing the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) for personal gain, even though the agency is supposed to monitor Maoist activities.
He stated that the phones of political leaders, attorneys, businesspersons, Osmania University professors, and even actors were tapped.
He claimed that by tapping the phones of political figures, they managed to seize hundreds of crores from them.
