Hyderabad, Aug 8 (NationPress) - On Friday, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar accused former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of illegally monitoring the phones of his daughter K. Kavitha, son-in-law Anil Kumar, and nephew, former minister T. Harish Rao.
He alleged that phone surveillance was conducted under the pretext of tracking Maoist activities during the tenure of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), indicating that a staggering amount of money was misappropriated through these actions.
Bandi Sanjay provided evidence to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the phone-tapping allegations, submitting documentation in a sealed envelope.
After his statement at the Dilkusha guesthouse, he informed reporters that the phones of several political figures, including then state minister Harish Rao and the state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy, were also monitored.
“The phone surveillance extended to ministers and MLAs associated with the BRS,” he stated, insisting that the SIT should also interview KCR’s family members.
The BJP leader claimed that KCR and his son KTR misappropriated resources from the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), which is designated for monitoring Maoist activities, for personal gain.
He alleged that numerous individuals, including political leaders, lawyers, businessmen, university professors, and even actors, were subjected to phone tapping.
According to Sanjay, the illicit phone surveillance resulted in the seizure of hundreds of crores from political leaders. He asserted that the seized funds were distributed among KCR, KTR, the former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao, and police officer Radhakishan Rao, with only a fraction of the actual amounts being documented.
He also highlighted that during the Lok Sabha elections, Rs 7 crore was confiscated from the Congress candidate in Khammam, with its whereabouts remaining unknown.
Additionally, he claimed that the phone of the High Court judge involved in a paper leakage case against him was also tapped.
Bandi Sanjay stated that the previous KCR administration monitored not only his communications but also those of his family, staff, and even his driver. Expressing shock at the extensive list of tapped numbers, he raised concerns regarding the alleged collusion between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and KCR, questioning why no action had been taken against the alleged theft of vast sums of money.
He urged the government to contact the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for further investigation and expressed skepticism about the SIT's authority to conduct inquiries into phone tapping, demanding a CBI investigation to uncover the truth.
Sanjay expressed doubt about the Congress government's commitment to justice, questioning why KCR and his family had yet to face any charges a year after the allegations surfaced.
He questioned whether the SIT had the jurisdiction to summon Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the High Court judge for questioning, alleging that KCR’s actions and the commissions established by the Congress government had essentially become a financial resource for Congress leaders.
Earlier, Bandi Sanjay attended a prayer at a Hanuman temple in Khairatabad before arriving at the Dilkusha guesthouse with a large group of supporters, with numerous BJP workers showcasing their solidarity by carrying party flags and placards.
