Mumbai, Oct 31 (NationPress) In a crucial move towards its eagerly awaited satellite broadband services in India, Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, has kicked off its initial hiring phase in the nation.
The company, led by Elon Musk, has announced multiple job openings across various platforms, including LinkedIn and the SpaceX careers site. They are currently seeking applicants for finance and accounting positions such as tax manager, accounting manager, payments manager, and senior treasury analyst, based in Bengaluru, the operational hub of Starlink in India.
As Starlink broadens its international reach to provide low-latency satellite broadband services, its Indian division is on the lookout for an accounting manager to supervise financial reporting and compliance, as detailed in their job posting.
The role is pivotal for supporting Starlink's operations in India, focusing on the development and enhancement of accounting, reporting, and statutory compliance frameworks. The company has specified that no remote or hybrid work options are available; only locally based candidates with valid work authorization will be eligible.
Starlink is gearing up for the commercial launch of its satellite internet services in India, expected in late 2025 or early 2026. In line with government regulations, the company is currently setting up ground infrastructure and conducting mandatory security tests.
To meet the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) requirements for lawful interception and security compliance prior to spectrum allocation, Starlink previously showcased its broadband service to officials in Mumbai.
Reportedly, the company has also requested permission to establish three gateway stations in Mumbai, Chennai, and Noida. Following the launch, it plans to set up nine to ten additional gateway locations, including Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Lucknow.
Once operational, Starlink will compete with Jio Satellite and Eutelsat OneWeb, both of which have received regulatory approvals but are still waiting for final spectrum allocation.
The DoT and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) are still finalizing the frameworks for satellite broadband spectrum pricing and distribution.
