KALICHARAN, released in 1976, featured stars like Reena Roy, Premnath, Ajit, Madan Puri, and Danny Denzongpa. The action-thriller became a box office sensation and was remade into several regional films including Khaidi Kalidasu in Telugu, Kaalinga in Kannada, Sangili in Tamil, and Pathamudayam in Malayalam.
The plot revolved around Prabhakar, an honest policeman, who is killed by crime lord Din Dayal. Afterward, Khanna discovers Kalicharan, Prabhakar's lookalike, and enlists him to take down Din Dayal.
On the other hand, VISHWANATH hit theaters in 1978 and was remade in Telugu as Lawyer Viswanath and in Tamil as Naan Mahaan Alla. This film depicted Vishwanath, an honest lawyer wrongfully imprisoned because of a gangster. Following his release, he embarks on a quest for vengeance, ultimately becoming a criminal himself.
