Gandhinagar, Dec 21 (NationPress) A 'Swadeshi fair' is currently taking place in the Dang district of Gujarat, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives for 'Vocal for Local' and 'Har Ghar Swadeshi' campaigns. This event is attracting both local and international tourists with a diverse selection of native and indigenous products.

The fair, which is being hosted by the Rural Development Department, will last for three days. It boasts over 60 stalls displaying indigenous goods, along with several stalls from women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs), thereby giving the fair a distinct character.

Inaugurated by MLA Vijay Patel, the fair highlights a wide variety of handicrafts and food items crafted by women.

Patel toured several stalls run by SHGs, stressing the significance of 'Vocal for Local' and encouraging locals and pilgrims to purchase locally made handicrafts to support the Swadeshi movement.

Speaking to reporters, Patel noted that the fair is organized under the 'Har Ghar Swadeshi' campaign and is witnessing significant participation from youth and women.

He stated that the fair aims to empower women and promote self-reliance. He passionately urged tourists and visitors to buy indigenous products.

Patel further mentioned that the Prime Minister has called on everyone to 'buy swadeshi' goods, asserting that if all begin purchasing homegrown products, the nation's wealth will remain within India, thereby strengthening the country.

Many women, including participants from SHGs and 'Lakhpati Didis', expressed their enthusiasm for being part of the Swadeshi initiative and conveyed their pride in being involved in such an effort.

Yogita, a Lakhpati Didi, shared her joy over the large turnout of women eager to participate in the fair and stated that the certificates provided to them would reinforce the message of self-reliance.

“Such fairs should continue to be organized. I encourage everyone to visit this fair,” she remarked.

Point of View

I believe the Swadeshi fair exemplifies the spirit of self-reliance and community empowerment we need in today's economy. By encouraging the purchase of locally made products, we not only help artisans thrive but also contribute to a stronger, more resilient nation. This initiative is a call to action for all of us to support our local businesses.
