Patna, July 22 (NationPress) In a notable divergence from the attire of fellow opposition leaders, including former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, who donned black garments as part of their protest against the voter list revision, Hasanpur MLA Tej Pratap Yadav chose to appear in his signature white khadi outfit.
Tej Pratap made a brief appearance, addressed the media, and subsequently departed for his home without engaging in the Assembly discussions.
When asked why he opted for white instead of black like other opposition lawmakers, Tej Pratap explained, “We have not come today in black kurta; we have been living like this since the beginning. Simple living, high thinking.”
He added with a touch of humor, “We wear a black kurta on Saturday. Saturn planet is on me, right… that is why I wear a black kurta on Saturday.”
In response to inquiries about his absence during the current session, Tej Pratap stated, “I am coming to the House and marking my attendance,” emphasizing that his voice “is getting louder whether inside or outside.”
On his electoral ambitions, Tej Pratap remarked that he would disclose details at a later time.
Regarding his involvement in the protest, he confirmed, “The protest is ongoing; we are participating in it.”
As for BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul’s proposal for Nitish Kumar to assume the Vice Presidency, Tej Pratap commented, “What he should become and what not, only they will know.”
Addressing the turmoil in the Assembly concerning the voter list revision, he remarked, “The government is not addressing crucial issues like SIR and rampant crime; hence, the uproar.”
On the second day of the Bihar Legislative Assembly's monsoon session, opposition MLAs created a disturbance demanding a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, resulting in repeated adjournments.
Opposition members entered the well of the House, seized a chair in front of the Speaker, and raised slogans calling for a debate on voter list revision.
Following this incident, Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav issued a stern warning to the MLAs to maintain decorum in the House.
