Patna, March 10 (NationPress) Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, on Monday launched a strong attack against BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul for his controversial statement urging Muslims to "stay indoors" during Holi.

Criticizing the BJP leader, Tejashwi Yadav remarked: "Is this Bachaul’s domain? Who is he to impose restrictions on Muslims? How can he make such declarations?"

He also condemned Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his lack of response, stating: "The CM seems oblivious when such remarks are made. Does he possess the courage to confront Bachaul?"

Yadav took a jab at the JDU’s alliance with BJP, asserting: "The JDU is now under the sway of BJP and RSS. The Chief Minister is primarily focused on retaining his position, rather than serving the people of Bihar."

Highlighting India’s Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb (Hindu-Muslim unity), he stated: "This nation respects both Ram and Rahim. In this land, five to six Hindus will unite to protect a Muslim. Figures like Bachaul and Togadia (Pravin Togadia) have come and gone, yet Bihar has consistently stood firm against them."

Tejashwi challenged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, urging him to act against divisive politics: "If you are brave, summon Bachaul and reprimand him or compel him to apologize in the Assembly. Yet, we all know you won’t do it as your priority is your position."

With Bihar elections on the horizon, Tejashwi Yadav is positioning himself as a champion of secularism, directly confronting Nitish Kumar regarding his silence on communal matters.

Will Nitish Kumar finally speak up, or will BJP continue to defend its MLA? The competition for the 2025 Assembly elections in Bihar is heating up. The political atmosphere in Bihar is intensifying, with the opposition leveraging Bachaul’s inflammatory remark to challenge the ruling NDA government.

Previously, Rabri Devi and Abdul Bari Siddiqui also criticized Nitish Kumar and BJP leaders for making such a provocative statement ahead of Holi, which could disturb peace in Bihar. They have demanded that the BJP MLA offer a public apology.
