Hyderabad, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana documented an impressive total of 199 cases throughout 2025, culminating in the apprehension of 273 accused individuals, as reported by officials on Wednesday.
According to ACB Director General Charu Sinha, among the registered cases, 157 were trap cases, which resulted in the arrest of 224 individuals, comprising 176 government employees.
Moreover, there were 15 cases pertaining to disproportionate assets involving government officials, alongside 26 other cases concerning criminal misconduct by public servants, leading to the arrest of 34 individuals.
The anti-corruption agency also undertook 26 regular inquiries into corruption allegations. ACB officials conducted 54 surprise inspections across various offices, including sub-registrar offices, RTA check posts, and welfare hostels.
During this period, the ACB secured 115 sanction orders from the government for the prosecution of accused officials and subsequently filed charge sheets in these cases.
In the 158 trap cases registered, the ACB confiscated a total of Rs 57.17 lakh, of which Rs 35.89 lakh has been returned to the complainants.
Additionally, properties valued at Rs 96.13 crore belonging to accused officials were uncovered in 15 disproportionate assets cases.
Charu Sinha highlighted the focus on training ACB personnel, with basic induction training provided to 73 officers. This training encompassed the preparation of profiles for accused and suspected individuals, surveillance techniques, the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, investigation into financial transactions, tracing digital footprints, and legal aspects of trap and disproportionate assets cases.
Charu Sinha also announced that Anti-Corruption Week was observed from December 3 to December 9 to foster public awareness. During this week, the ACB introduced a QR code-based complaint system, a user-friendly initiative aimed at assisting individuals in remote areas to register complaints quickly, securely, and without intermediaries.
Furthermore, the ACB organized various awareness activities, including the distribution of pamphlets and posters and held essay-writing competitions for students.
