Hyderabad, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, has urged voters to select capable leaders for the position of sarpanch to ensure holistic development in their villages.
Ahead of the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections taking place in three phases this month, the Chief Minister commenced his district visits.
During a public meeting in Makthal, where he laid the groundwork for various developmental projects, he cautioned citizens against backing parties that hinder the state's progress.
He noted that the residents of Palamuru (Mahabubnagar) district had previously supported the Congress by electing 12 Congress MLAs, resulting in his own election as the second Chief Minister of the youngest state, Telangana.
The CM criticized former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for neglecting the Palamuru district throughout the decade-long rule of the BRS in the state.
“This region stood behind KCR during the Telangana movement and elected him as a Lok Sabha MP. However, after assuming the role of Chief Minister, KCR failed to allocate even Rs 12 crore for development. Projects in Palamuru remain unfinished, and no action has been taken to advance the Kodangal – Narayanpet lift scheme,” the Chief Minister said.
He expressed that the “people’s government” has initiated efforts to complete the Palamuru project, while accusing opposition parties of obstructing progress through legal challenges.
“A generous compensation of Rs 20 lakhs was extended to 96 percent of farmers affected by land acquisition. We have successfully completed land acquisition for the Narayanpet Kodangal project and are proceeding with the works,” he added.
The Chief Minister also criticized KCR for the escalating debt burden of Rs 8 lakh crore on the state treasury. He asserted that despite financial challenges, the state government continues to implement various schemes and finish development projects. He assured the public that completing the Palamuru projects and ensuring irrigation water supply is his responsibility.
CM Revanth Reddy stated that the government is organizing a Global Summit to steer the state back on course and attract substantial investments. This summit aims to showcase Telangana's potential globally and position it as a premier investment destination within the country. He reaffirmed that Telangana is on track to evolve into a 1 trillion dollar economy by 2034 and a 3 trillion dollar economy by 2047.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to education for all, he declared that a Young India Integrated School will be established in each constituency, with fourteen such schools planned for Palamuru, along with an IIT in the district.
The Chief Minister expressed ambitions to develop Palamuru into a model district for the nation.
He informed the public that over the past two years, the government has introduced numerous initiatives, including free RTC bus travel for women, providing 200 units of free electricity to the underprivileged, supplying fine rice to all white ration card holders, and waiving farm loans.
He revealed that the government allocated Rs 1.04 lakh crore for farmers’ welfare within two years and is actively working towards women's economic advancement.
Revanth Reddy mentioned the caste census was conducted for the benefit of marginalized communities, making Telangana the first state in India to sub-categorize Scheduled Castes.
