Bhopal, March 28 (NationPress) Tensions remain high in Gadra village within the Shahpur police station jurisdiction of Mauganj district, Madhya Pradesh, following the violent incidents on March 15 that resulted in the deaths of Assistant Sub-Inspector Ram Charan Gautam and a young man named Sunny Dwivedi.

The aftermath of these events has plunged the village into chaos.

On Friday, representatives from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, alongside various social organizations, organized a protest rally in Mauganj. They presented a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police (SP), calling for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

They sought clarity on the circumstances surrounding the death of Ashok Kol and questioned why Sunny Dwivedi was present in the community on the evening of the clash between residents and police forces. In such a small village, when charges have been framed against around 42-45 individuals, including women and minors, it raises concerns about the fairness of the investigation.

“We demand a fair investigation and justice for those impacted. The police are unjustly targeting innocent members of the tribal community and mistreating women and disabled individuals. We call for a CBI investigation into the entire matter,” stated Shivanshu Kol, founder of Adivasi Yuva Manch, who is also an advocate, in an interview with IANS. The organization submitted a seven-point demand to the Superintendent of Police on Friday.

Abhishek Master Buddhsen Patel, a former parliamentary candidate from the Bahujan Samaj Party in the upcoming 2024 elections, urged for an impartial investigation.

In his discussion with IANS, he emphasized that the entire community should not bear the blame for the actions of a few individuals. He called on authorities to investigate the root cause of the Gadra incident and ensure that even the quietest voices in the community are acknowledged. Patel had previously organized a gathering, urging officials to conduct a fair inquiry instead of treating the village as if it were under siege.

“Justice must be granted to the guilty, irrespective of their community,” Patel, who is also an advocate, asserted.

Advocate Ravindra Kol, another member of the community and part of the Adivasi Yuva Manch, expressed his concerns regarding the incident and the police investigation. He informed IANS that community members had submitted their requests to the newly appointed Superintendent of Police on Friday and to bodies such as the MP Human Rights Commission and the Minority Commission.

The Superintendent assured them that innocent individuals would be cleared following a proper investigation. However, Kol stressed that the small tribal population in the village is resolute in seeking justice. The police have filed charges against 38 individuals.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ankita Sulya, part of the team that was attacked on March 15, confirmed that a comprehensive investigation has been conducted and that innocent individuals were excluded from the charges.

Meanwhile, police sources indicated that action has been taken against the family of the main accused and his associates.

The incident has ignited widespread outrage within the tribal community, leading Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to remove both the former Superintendent of Police and the district collector from their positions in response to the events of March 15.
