BJP chief Nitin Nabin vows sharp reply to Opposition's language against PM Modi
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday, 18 August warned that the party would deliver a firm response to the language used by the Leader of the Opposition against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while accusing the Indian National Congress (Congress) of repeatedly undermining democratic institutions. Nabin made the remarks in Visakhapatnam while addressing the extended executive meeting of the BJP's Andhra Pradesh unit.
Sharp Words on Opposition Conduct
Nabin alleged that the Opposition was actively promoting anti-social elements in the country and had displayed a troubling attitude both inside Parliament and during Independence Day events. 'BJP workers are known for their dignity and values, but the way the Leader of the Opposition has used words for PM Modi, we must give a sharp response while staying within our dignity,' he said.
He further characterised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a 'part-time politician,' alleging that Gandhi focuses primarily on issues that divert public attention from matters of faith and development. Nabin claimed the BJP, by contrast, holds a vision rooted in social harmony.
Youth Outreach and Development Agenda
A significant portion of Nabin's address centred on engaging India's youth. He called on party leaders to hold continuous dialogue with young people about their aspirations, arguing that today's generation is not merely seeking employment but is actively creating opportunities through startups. 'Youth means being committed to nation-building. Bharat's youth are not merely seeking jobs; through startups, they are creating jobs and opportunities for others,' he said.
He credited government initiatives such as Make in India with generating new avenues for young Indians, urging BJP functionaries to carry the government's schemes and achievements directly to citizens through sustained outreach.
Infrastructure Push and Viksit Bharat Vision
Nabin highlighted that infrastructure projects worth more than ₹8 lakh crore are currently underway under PM Modi's leadership, with a stated ambition to position Bharat as a global manufacturing hub with world-class infrastructure in the coming years. He invoked the legacies of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's nationalism, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay's philosophy of Antyodaya, and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee's model of good governance as the ideological pillars underpinning the 'Viksit Bharat' vision.
Andhra Pradesh Organisational Review
On the organisational front, Nabin held a separate meeting with state office bearers, district presidents, and district in-charges, alongside Andhra Pradesh BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav. The discussion focused on strengthening the party's structure, improving coordination, and widening public outreach across all 28 districts of the state.
Nabin also visited the state BJP's exhibition, which documented one full year of the party's organisational journey across Andhra Pradesh, showcasing public service initiatives, membership expansion, and the work of grassroots workers. He hoisted the party flag at the event, calling it a reminder of the collective responsibility to uphold BJP's values through discipline and service. Andhra Pradesh, he asserted, is 'leading the country on the development front' — a claim the party is keen to amplify ahead of future electoral cycles.
