Chennai, Aug 10 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process for 2025 is in its final stages, with tentative seat allotments for the third and final round of counselling set to be unveiled on Sunday.
As per officials from the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), which manages the admissions, the choice filling for students in the general category for the final round concluded at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
"In the third round, participants had cut-off marks ranging from 143 to 77.5," a senior DOTE representative mentioned.
"Tentative allotments will be announced today, and students who receive an allotment are required to confirm their acceptance by August 11."
For those who confirm their seat acceptance, provisional allotment orders will be distributed on August 12. Additionally, on that same day, students wanting to pursue upward movement—a process enabling them to transfer to a higher-preference course or institution if a seat opens—can also submit their preferences.
Following the evaluation of data from all rounds and categories, the DOTE will disclose the final provisional allotment of seats for the 2025 academic year on August 20.
The third round of counselling also accommodates government school students in the general category who benefit from the 7.5 percent horizontal reservation.
Officials confirmed that the tentative and provisional allotment schedules for these students will align with those of the general category. This year's TNEA process has been conducted fully online, allowing students to select their desired institutions and courses through the official portal.
The three-round counselling system aims to promote transparency and enhance opportunities for candidates across various categories, while the upward movement option provides an extra chance for students to secure a more preferred seat.
Admissions through TNEA are based on Class 12 performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with normalisation applied for students from different educational boards. The process encompasses engineering and technology courses offered by government, government-aided, and self-financing institutions across Tamil Nadu.
The announcement of tentative seat allotments today brings an end to the lengthy wait for thousands of aspiring engineers in the state. For many, the upcoming week will not only determine their college placements but also shape the next significant step in their educational journey.
