Kabul, Nov 14 (NationPress) A tragic road accident in southern Afghanistan's Zabul province resulted in the death of one individual and left two others injured, as reported by provincial police spokesman Zabihullah Jawhar on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, a major transport artery that connects the capital with the southern provinces, according to the official, as noted by Xinhua News Agency.

Local authorities indicated that a vehicle collided head-on with another, claiming the life of one passenger instantly and injuring two others who were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital.

Traffic accidents are a significant issue in Afghanistan, where factors such as heavy vehicle congestion, inadequate road conditions, and insufficient enforcement of traffic laws often lead to fatal incidents.

Earlier, on November 4, a similar tragedy unfolded in Afghanistan's eastern Parwan province, where a car and a truck collided, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries, including women and children, as stated by provincial police spokesman Fazal Rahim Muskinyar.

This deadly crash occurred in Siagurd district, highlighting the ongoing road safety crisis.

On November 1, it was reported that a truck overturned in Helmand province, resulting in three deaths, including a woman, and injuring five others, including four children, as detailed by local officials.

Previously, on October 30, a collision involving a tractor and two passenger vehicles in eastern Afghanistan's Laghman province led to three deaths and 18 injuries, with several victims in critical condition. Reckless driving was cited as the main cause of these accidents.
