In the Dushi district of northern Baghlan province, a head-on crash involving two vehicles resulted in one death and four injuries. Meanwhile, in eastern Wardak province, two distinct incidents led to another fatality and five additional injuries.
Furthermore, another incident in the Hazrat Sultan district of northern Samangan province left seven individuals hurt. Officials have primarily attributed these accidents to reckless driving, emphasizing that driver negligence on crowded and poorly maintained roads continues to result in fatalities, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.
These recent occurrences follow two separate accidents earlier in the week in northern Faryab and Kunduz provinces, which tragically claimed five lives and injured 23 others, including women and children.
On December 8, a bus overturned in Kunduz province, claiming the lives of two passengers and injuring 20 others. The incident, which occurred in the Ali Abad district on the highway connecting northern Badakhshan province to Kabul, was also attributed to reckless driving, according to provincial police spokesperson Jumaddin Khaksar.
Authorities, along with emergency services, responded promptly, transporting the injured to nearby medical facilities, Khaksar noted.
Earlier that week, a separate fatal accident resulted in four fatalities and two injuries when a vehicle plunged into a river in northern Badakhshan province.
Every year, thousands lose their lives in traffic incidents across Afghanistan, often due to reckless driving, overloaded vehicles, inadequate road conditions, absence of traffic signage, and deteriorating highways.
