Two Fatalities and Three Injuries in Afghan Road Mishap

Kabul, Jan 4 (NationPress) At least two individuals lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in a road mishap in the northern region of Afghanistan's Baghlan province, according to a statement released by the provincial police office on Saturday.
The tragic incident occurred when a vehicle collided with another car in the Baghlan-e-Markazi district on Friday evening, leading to the immediate death of two people and injuries to three others, the statement detailed.
The injured parties were promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for care.
Road incidents are common in Afghanistan due to substandard road conditions, reckless driving behaviors, difficult terrains, overloading of vehicles, unsafe overtaking practices, and speeding.
Previously, on December 20, a similar accident claimed the lives of two individuals, while three others were injured in Parwan province, eastern Afghanistan, as confirmed by a local police representative.
This accident took place in the Salang district along the highway connecting Kabul to northern provinces, where a passenger vehicle fell into a ravine due to reckless driving. This crash resulted in two fatalities at the scene, with three others injured, as stated by Fazal Rahim Maskenyar, the provincial police spokesperson.
In another instance, at least 44 commuters were reported dead, and 76 others injured in two separate road accidents in eastern Ghazni province.
Earlier on December 6, three commuters were killed, and 12 others suffered injuries in two distinct road accidents within Afghanistan, according to police reports.
The first incident took place in northern Jawzjan province on a highway linking to Sari Pul province, where a vehicle veered off the road, resulting in one death and injuries to ten others, as stated by provincial police spokesman Abdul Satar Halimi.
The second accident occurred when a vehicle overturned in the Shahr-e-Safa district of southern Zabul province along the highway connecting Kandahar and Kabul, leading to two fatalities and two injuries, according to provincial police spokesperson Zabihullah Jawhar.
The official attributed these incidents to reckless driving, emphasizing that carelessness among drivers on congested roads frequently leads to tragic outcomes for commuters.
