Just last week, another tragic accident occurred in northern Badakhshan province, where a jeep fell into a river, leading to the deaths of six commuters and leaving four others injured.
Factors such as poor road conditions, reckless driving, and inadequate safety measures contribute significantly to the frequency of deadly road accidents in this war-torn nation.
Earlier this month, a separate incident on a highway in northern Jawzjan province resulted in one fatality and ten injuries.
In Zabul province, a car overturned in Shahr-e-Safa district along a highway that connects Kandahar with the capital, Kabul, causing two deaths and injuring two others.
Officials have consistently attributed these accidents to reckless driving, emphasizing that drivers' negligence on crowded roads often results in tragic outcomes for commuters.
On November 25, another accident saw at least six people killed after a passenger vehicle fell into the Kokcha River in Badakhshan province while en route to Faizabad city, the provincial capital.
On November 23, two separate traffic incidents in northern Faryab province resulted in the deaths of five commuters and injuries to nine others. The first incident involved a car veering off the road, killing three on the spot and injuring seven; shortly after, a vehicle overturned in Pashtun Kot district, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a woman and a child, while injuring two more.
Just a week prior, another tragedy struck when eight commuters, including women and children, lost their lives after their vehicle fell into the same river in that vicinity.
