Kabul, Sep 2 (NationPress) In a tragic incident, eight individuals lost their lives and four others sustained injuries when their vehicle overturned in the Jawzjan province of northern Afghanistan, as reported by provincial police spokesman Qari Abdul Sattar on Tuesday.
The official attributed the devastating accident to reckless driving, stating that the event occurred in the Aqcha district on Monday afternoon, resulting in the immediate deaths of eight passengers.
The driver disregarded traffic regulations by transporting 12 passengers in a vehicle designed for a maximum of five, according to the report from Xinhua News Agency.
Road incidents have claimed over 100 lives in Afghanistan in recent weeks, with the most severe accident occurring in August in the Herat province, where 79 passengers perished.
On August 27, a separate incident left at least 25 individuals dead and 27 injured when a bus overturned west of the capital, Kabul, as noted by an official from the Ministry of Interior Affairs.
This particular accident took place in the Arghandi area along the highway connecting Kandahar to Kabul and was also caused by reckless driving, as stated by Abdul Mateen Qani, the ministry's spokesman.
Emergency services promptly intervened, transporting the injured to local health centers for urgent care, Qani added.
Another tragic event on August 24 resulted in the deaths of three passengers and injuries to four others when a vehicle veered off the road in Badakhshan province. The accident occurred in the Pul-e-Shopay area of the Kohistan district due to careless driving, according to provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar.
Among the deceased were a woman and a child, who tragically died at the scene, while the injured were quickly taken to local medical facilities for treatment, Kamgar reported.
