Kabul, Nov 16 (NationPress) A tragic road accident in Qarghayi district of Laghman province, eastern Afghanistan, resulted in the deaths of six commuters and left three more injured early Sunday morning, according to a statement from the provincial police.

The incident occurred on the highway connecting the capital, Kabul, to the eastern provinces, when a passenger vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and subsequently caught fire. This horrifying accident claimed six lives instantly while three individuals were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.

Authorities have indicated that reckless driving was the primary factor leading to this incident. Such fatal road mishaps are unfortunately frequent in Afghanistan, attributed to factors including poor road conditions, reckless driving practices, difficult terrains, overloading, and excessive speeding.

Earlier, on November 14, provincial police spokesperson Zabihullah Jawhar reported another road accident in southern Afghanistan’s Zabul province, which resulted in one fatality and two injuries. This crash occurred along the busy Kabul-Kandahar highway on November 13, a critical transport route linking the capital with the southern regions.

According to local law enforcement, a vehicle collided with an oncoming car, leading to one death at the scene and two others sustaining injuries, who were later transported to a local medical facility.

On November 4, another tragic incident in Parwan province resulted in four deaths and two injuries when a car collided with a truck. The provincial police spokesperson, Fazal Rahim Muskinyar, confirmed that this accident occurred in Siagurd district, resulting in the immediate deaths of four individuals, including women and children.

The official attributed this accident to reckless driving, noting that both drivers involved have been detained for further investigation.

Earlier, on November 1, local authorities reported that three individuals, including a woman, were killed and five others injured, including four children, when a truck overturned in the southern province of Helmand. The truck was transporting a family during a relocation when it overturned due to reckless driving on the outskirts of Police District 10, near Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital, as stated by the provincial department of information and culture.
