Tragic Bus Accident in Pauri Garhwal: Five Lives Lost in 100-Meter Plunge

Pauri Garhwal (Uttarakhand), Jan 12 (NationPress) Five individuals tragically lost their lives and more than 15 others sustained injuries after a bus plunged into a steep gorge in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district on Sunday.
Efforts for relief and rescue are currently in progress.
Upon receiving news of the incident, police personnel promptly arrived at the scene. The local administration has initiated a rescue operation. The injured individuals are being assisted by police and community members and have been transported to the District Hospital Pauri.
Initial reports indicate that the private bus lost control and fell approximately 100 meters off the road.
The bus veered off track and descended into a ravine near Satyakhal on the route from Pauri city to the Central School. Upon impact, it struck a tree, which prevented it from rolling further, although the vehicle was severely damaged.
At the time of the accident, there were numerous passengers aboard the bus.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was likely caused by a combination of slippery road conditions and the vehicle's excessive speed. Five fatalities have been confirmed, while over 15 individuals are reported to be injured.
Rescue and relief efforts are being supported on-site by SDRF, the local police force, and devoted community members.
