Cairo, Sep 11 (NationPress) The United Nations has expressed its approval regarding the agreement forged between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) concerning the practical modalities for resuming inspections in Iran, as stated by Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General.

"We view the agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IAEA on the 'practical modalities to resume inspections in Iran' as a constructive step towards restoring full cooperation, as mandated by Iran's comprehensive safeguard agreement," Dujarric remarked during a daily briefing on Wednesday (local time).

"We are eager for the prompt implementation of this agreement," he added.

The spokesperson emphasized that Iran's full collaboration with the IAEA is crucial in establishing a long-term framework to ensure that Iran's nuclear program remains strictly peaceful, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

During a joint press conference in Cairo, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced that Iran and the IAEA signed an agreement to restart their cooperation.

"This is a significant step in the right direction," stated Rafael Grossi, director general of the IAEA, who shared images of the signing ceremony alongside Araghchi.

Araghchi affirmed that Iran and the IAEA have committed to enhancing their cooperation while respecting Iranian sovereignty and ensuring the security of the Iranian populace, emphasizing that Iran will not again compromise its nuclear policies or rights.

Furthermore, Abdelatty noted that Iran is keen to return to negotiations regarding its nuclear program, and Egypt is actively working to reconcile the views of European nations and Iran, aiming to de-escalate regional tensions.

It is important to note that Iran had halted its cooperation with the IAEA following the Israeli-US attacks on its nuclear facilities and the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists in June. Nonetheless, the nuclear watchdog continues to maintain communication with Iranian authorities.
