During the event, the Vice-President expressed his gratitude towards the Union government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for their unwavering support of Tamil culture and language.
He praised initiatives like the Kashi Tamil Sangamam and efforts to acknowledge and celebrate Tamil kings, leaders, and freedom fighters who have historically been overlooked.
The Vice-President highlighted that the stamp release for Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar is part of a broader movement aimed at recognition.
He emphasized that acknowledging unsung heroes is vital for rekindling the cultural pride of the nation as India moves towards Viksit Bharat.
Prominent attendees included Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman; Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh; and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan, according to a statement from the Vice-President's X account.
Previously, Vice-President Radhakrishnan participated in the centenary birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at the Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh.
In his address, the Vice-President referred to Sri Sathya Sai Baba as "a significant emissary of God, embodying peace, love, and selfless service," whose teachings transcend all divides of caste, religion, class, and nationality.
He reiterated that Sri Sathya Sai Baba's guiding principles—"Love All, Serve All" and "Help Ever, Hurt Never"—have influenced every initiative he undertook and every life he impacted.
Quoting the saint-poet Thiruvalluvar's Kural, the Vice-President remarked that Sri Sathya Sai Baba exemplified this timeless truth through his commitment to loving and serving humanity.
Stressing the importance of Sri Sathya Sai Baba's teachings rooted in 'Sathya' (truth), 'Dharma' (righteousness), 'Shanthi' (peace), 'Prem' (love), and 'Ahimsa' (non-violence), Vice-President Radhakrishnan stated that these enduring values are essential for fostering a harmonious and progressive society.
He urged humanity to replace discord with harmony and selfishness with sacrifice—values that hold particular significance in today's world, which is often fraught with uncertainty and conflict.
Additionally, he emphasized that public life should also be governed by truth, duty, empathy, and moral responsibility—virtues that Sri Sathya Sai Baba profoundly endorsed.
