Varanasi, July 10 (NationPress) As Shravan, one of the most sacred months in Hinduism, commences this Friday, the city and its markets are alive with a festive atmosphere. Vendors are witnessing a surge in customers eager to purchase spiritually-themed attire and merchandise.
In the bustling streets, devotees are eagerly lining up to buy customized saffron apparel adorned with images and prints of Lord Shiva.
Dalmandi, renowned as one of the largest textile hubs in Purvanchal, is experiencing an overwhelming demand for T-shirts and Kurtas featuring designs of Mahadev and Mahakal. The vibrant outlets are attracting a multitude of devotees searching for these stylish, customized garments.
Saffron T-shirts emblazoned with 'Mahadev' and 'Mahakal' and depicting Lord Shiva are especially captivating a large number of Kanwariyas visiting these shops.
This season, Mahakal T-shirts have become the top-selling item, with children's versions showcasing a playful depiction of Lord Shiva also gaining popularity among devotees. Many young people and adults are purchasing these T-shirts in sizable quantities.
Shopkeepers report that the faith in Lord Shiva among Kanwariyas and the quest for stylish clothes have invigorated the Shravan festival this year, noting a consistent rise in the scale of the Kanwar Yatra over the years.
According to wholesale trader Sandeep Kesari, sales have surged nearly fivefold compared to last year.
“We are receiving not only local orders from Purvanchal but also substantial requests from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and even neighboring Nepal,” he stated in an interview.
“Having been in this business for over 25 years, we've seen a significant increase in Kanwariyas due to improved facilities along the Kanwar route,” he added.
He noted that Mahakal T-shirts and Kurtas are in high demand, with not only devotees but also traders from other states and Nepal buying these items to take back to their homes.
Other vendors revealed that the demand is so overwhelming that timely deliveries have become a challenge.
The fusion of fashion with devotion to Lord Shiva during the month of Sawan has transformed the marketplace, they remarked.
Shravan, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is regarded as the most sacred month of the year, during which devotees across the nation engage in rituals, prayers, and fasting with utmost devotion.
