Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 18 (NationPress) In a decisive move to quell rumors regarding the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) potentially partnering with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, party leader Vijay firmly stated on Wednesday that the party will not waver from its foundational principles of “secular social justice”.
Speaking at an Iftar event organized by the party in Mamallapuram, approximately 60 km south of Chennai, Vijay aimed to clarify the ongoing speculations regarding his party’s political stance.
He pointed out that throughout his political career, there have been persistent efforts to present TVK as associated with various political factions.
“Since I embarked on my political journey, there have been steady claims suggesting we are acting as a proxy for certain parties. There have been various assertions at different times indicating our allegiance to one alliance or another. I want to clarify — we are not aligned with any such coalition. Our allegiance lies solely with the people,” he emphasized.
Vijay further mentioned that when such narratives failed to garner support, new forms of misinformation emerged, including recent assertions that TVK was gearing up to join a political faction ahead of the elections.
He characterized these assertions as a “false campaign” intended to mislead the public and diminish the party’s distinct identity.
“It can be confusing to hear such news. That confusion is precisely what these rumors aim to create. I want to reiterate — we will steadfastly adhere to our principles of secular social justice without compromise,” he stressed.
Reinforcing the party’s aspirations for independence, Vijay stated that TVK is not aiming to be a support party within any coalition but is focused on establishing a government through its own efforts.
He recalled his remarks during the party’s inaugural state conference, where he emphasized that there would be no deviation from its ideological foundation.
“In our politics, there is no place for compromise. Do not fall for false propaganda. With divine blessings and the people’s support, we will reach our objectives,” he asserted.
Vijay’s comments come at a time of heightened political activity in Tamil Nadu, as discussions about alliances and campaign strategies intensify in anticipation of the Assembly elections.
