Berlin, April 14 (NationPress) - Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has touched down in Berlin to engage in the India–Germany Foreign Office consultations. This visit aims to assess the strategic partnership between the two nations and to deliberate on various regional and global issues.
Arriving in Berlin early on Tuesday (Indian time), he received a warm welcome from the Indian Ambassador to Germany, Ajit Gupte.
The Indian Embassy in Germany took to X to announce, "Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived in Berlin for the India–Germany Foreign Office consultations. His visit follows the successful trip of Chancellor H.E. Friedrich Merz to India in January 2026 and signifies the ongoing high-level exchanges between India and Germany."
Ambassador Gupte also welcomed Foreign Secretary Misri on social media, stating, "This visit presents an opportunity to review the extensive India-Germany Strategic Partnership, advance discussions on key aspects of our bilateral agenda, and share views on regional and global developments."
Prior to this, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that Foreign Secretary Misri would co-chair the discussions with Geza Andreas von Geyr, State Secretary of the German Foreign Office.
"The consultations will encompass a wide array of areas for bilateral collaboration such as trade and investments, defense and security, technology, green energy, development cooperation, education, and people-to-people ties, along with mutual interests on global and regional matters," the MEA remarked.
Additionally, the Foreign Secretary is anticipated to meet other significant figures and high-ranking officials during his stay.
This visit follows his recent trip to Paris, where he co-chaired the India–France Foreign Office Consultations with Martin Briens, Secretary General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday.
According to the MEA, discussions in Paris involved a variety of topics, including defense, civil nuclear energy, space, cyber and digital cooperation, AI, innovation, and initiatives aimed at strengthening human and cultural ties in light of the latest global and regional developments.

Earlier, the Indian Foreign Secretary also had discussions with Jean-Noel Barrot, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, focusing on bilateral cooperation and ongoing global challenges, particularly the situation in West Asia.
