Chandigarh, Feb 4 (NationPress) The working President of Punjab BJP, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, stated on Wednesday that through the Viksit Bharat-G-RAM-G scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is championing the rights of the underprivileged, laborers, and farmers.
He criticized the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for neglecting the needs of the poor. Speaking at a rally in Kharar, Sharma highlighted that the Modi administration is dedicated to the welfare of the impoverished, while the Punjab government merely makes hollow claims.
Sharma emphasized that the implementation of the G-RAM-G system has significantly reduced corruption, as wages will now be deposited directly into workers’ bank accounts. The Modi government has introduced essential reforms in MGNREGA, extending workdays to 125, guaranteeing payments within seven days, and offering interest if payments are delayed beyond this period.
“Furthermore, if workers don't find employment within 15 days, they are eligible for an unemployment allowance.” He described these actions as historic efforts to create a social security net for the less fortunate. He accused the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress of corrupting the MGNREGA scheme over the years, claiming that despite numerous corruption cases, no money was recovered and no one faced punishment.
Sharma noted that initiatives like Prime Minister Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Gas Scheme, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and the Free Foodgrain Scheme have revolutionized the lives of the poor. “Now, every household is equipped with toilets, gas connections, and drinking water—what were once mere dreams.”
He accused the Mann administration of betraying the public by halting the Dal-Atta scheme for the poor, while the Central government continues to supply free food grains under the Prime Minister’s Food Scheme.
“The Punjab government is wrongly claiming credit for this,” he asserted.
On the topic of law and order, Sharma pointed out the rising incidents of gang violence, extortion, shootings, and drug abuse in Punjab, creating an atmosphere of fear.
“The government expected to ensure safety has utterly failed.” He criticized the Punjab administration as being effectively controlled from Delhi, with the Chief Minister reduced to a mere figurehead.
