West Bengal Police Uncover Major Inter-State Railway Job Scam

Kolkata, Dec 28 (NationPress) On Saturday, the West Bengal Police declared that they have successfully dismantled a significant inter-state fake railway job scam.
As per the police, this scam originated in the industrial and coal-rich area of Asansol in the West Burdwan district.
Authorities apprehended two individuals, both natives of Asansol, in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, and they were subsequently returned to Asansol on a transit remand.
The detained individuals have been identified as Dinesh Kumar and Priti Arora, also known as Seema.
While Kumar resides in Durand Colony in Asansol, Seema is located at Sukanta Pally, also in Asansol.
According to police sources, they had been living in Lucknow under the guise of being a married couple.
The investigation commenced in November 2023 after a complaint was filed by a young man from a neighboring state who was swindled out of several lakh rupees with false promises of railway employment.
On November 30, the police apprehended another accomplice in the scam, Harinder Singh, who is also from Asansol but originally hails from Bihar.
During a search of his residence, officers seized multiple incriminating documents, including fake appointment letters for various railway positions.
Following Singh's interrogation, the police arrested another individual from Asansol named Avodesh Kumar.
Under questioning, Kumar admitted that Dinesh Kumar and Seema were the primary orchestrators of the scam.
Based on this information, the investigative team sought out Dinesh and Seema and eventually tracked them down in Lucknow.
A contingent of the West Bengal Police traveled to Lucknow, took them into custody, and returned them to Asansol.
They are currently in police custody, where authorities are working to extract further details about their accomplices.
