White House Dismisses Allegations of Altered Iran War Objectives
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Washington, March 13 (NationPress) The White House has strongly denied allegations that the Trump administration has altered its objectives in the conflict with Iran. In response, it published a collection of statements from President Donald Trump and high-ranking officials, emphasizing what they claim to be the enduring goals of the campaign.
This compilation includes remarks made over the last ten days by Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, senior Pentagon officials, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, detailing what officials assert are the stable goals of Operation Epic Fury.
“Our aims are unmistakable,” Trump declared on March 2. “First, we are dismantling Iran’s missile capabilities… and their ability to create new ones — quite sophisticated ones they produce. Second, we are demolishing their navy… Third, we are ensuring that the world’s foremost terrorist sponsor can never acquire a nuclear weapon… Finally, we are making sure that the Iranian regime cannot continue to arm, finance, and direct terrorist factions beyond their borders.”
Vice President Vance reiterated that the main goal of the operation remains preventing Iran from developing nuclear arms.
“Regardless of what happens with the regime in any form, it’s secondary to the President’s primary goal — which is to ensure the Iranian terrorist regime does not construct a nuclear bomb,” he stated.
Secretary of State Rubio emphasized that the military initiative aims to neutralize the immediate threats posed by Iran’s missile systems and naval forces.
“The United States is engaged in an operation to eliminate the threats from Iran’s short-range ballistic missiles and their naval capabilities… That is the definitive aim of this mission,” Rubio noted.
Military leaders indicated that the campaign also aims to undermine Iran’s capacity to extend military influence beyond its borders.
“Our military in the Middle East is conducting an unprecedented operation to neutralize Iran’s capacity to threaten Americans, as they have been doing for nearly half a century,” US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated.
Pentagon officials have expressed concerns about the growing threat posed by Iran’s expanding missile forces.
Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby indicated that the operation is aimed at countering Iran’s capacity to exert military power.
“The objectives of the military campaign… focus on curtailing the Islamic Republic’s ability to project military power… primarily through its missile forces, which have significantly increased and pose a serious threat,” Colby explained.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth affirmed that the mission aims to dismantle crucial elements of Iran’s military strength.
“The mission is laser-focused: obliterating Iran’s missiles and drones and the facilities that produce them, destroying its navy and critical security infrastructure, and cutting off their pathway to nuclear weapons. Iran will never possess a nuclear bomb,” he asserted.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine specified that the operation is targeting Iran’s missile systems, naval capabilities, and military assets.
“We are targeting and neutralizing Iran’s ballistic missile systems to prevent them from threatening US forces, partners, and interests in the region,” Caine remarked. “Additionally, we are dismantling the Iranian navy… Finally, we’re ensuring Iran cannot quickly rebuild or restore its combat capabilities.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the operation's objectives have remained constant since its inception.
“We are making significant progress toward achieving those objectives — decimating Iran’s navy… neutralizing the ballistic missile threat that Iran poses to the United States and our personnel and bases in the region… guaranteeing Iran can never attain nuclear weapons, and substantially weakening their proxies in the region,” she stated.
