Lucknow, Nov 22 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya responded on Saturday to Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir’s declaration of laying the foundation stone for a proposed 'Babri Masjid' in Murshidabad on December 6, coinciding with the anniversary of the demolition of the original structure in Ayodhya. Maurya emphasized that “on the land of Bharat, they will not be allowed to start such a construction.”
Kabir, who initially proposed the mosque last year, anticipates that the event will draw nearly two lakh attendees, featuring over 400 prominent personalities on stage, and he estimates that construction will take approximately three years.
In an interview with IANS, Keshav Prasad Maurya stated, “In the name of Babur, on the land of Bharat, whether it is Congress, the Samajwadi Party, or any other party that stands against Hindus, if they think that honoring Babur, a foreign invader who demolished the Ram temple to construct a mosque, is acceptable, they are mistaken.”
He added, “The Babri Masjid was torn down on December 6, 1992, by kar sevaks. Now, on the land of Bharat, they will not be allowed to start such construction.”
Maurya also addressed the Congress’ decision to conduct a ‘Vote Chori Maha Rally' on December 14 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
He remarked, “Congress raised issues of vote theft and SIR during the Bihar elections, with RJD's backing. Just look at the current state of RJD and Congress in Bihar. A similar downfall awaits all those supporting Congress' agenda, including RJD, Trinamool Congress, or the Samajwadi Party. Uttar Pradesh in 2027 and West Bengal in 2026 will witness the same fate.”
He continued, “SIR is a constitutional process for purifying the voter roll. This is not unprecedented, but they are creating controversy now because they wish to regain power.”
Earlier that day, Congress General Secretary and MP K.C. Venugopal revealed that the Congress would hold a 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod Maha Rally' on December 14 at 1:30 p.m. at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital. He stated that “the spectre of vote chori” is the most significant threat to Indian democracy today.
Venugopal announced via social media platform X, “The spectre of Vote Chori is the greatest danger our democracy faces today. To send a message across the nation against these attempts to undermine our Constitution, the Congress will be organizing the 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod Maha Rally on December 14th (1.30 pm onwards) at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi.”
He added, “We have gathered crores of signatures from across India, rejecting the BJP-ECI’s malicious tactics, including adding fake voters, removing voters sympathetic to the Opposition, and manipulating voter rolls on a massive scale. Furthermore, every Indian has witnessed how the ECI bends rules, overlooks violations of the Model Code of Conduct, and engages in blatant bribery to assist the BJP in rigging elections. Once a neutral umpire, the ECI has now become a blatantly partisan player, completely undermining the spirit of fair elections.”
