Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Adani Foundation, in partnership with Adani Electricity, recently marked National Energy Conservation Day by engaging 150,000 students from schools across Mumbai.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, known as Project ‘Utthan’, the Adani Foundation along with Adani Electricity commemorated this special day on December 14, involving students from 947 schools within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) framework.
“A tremendous achievement for National Energy Conservation Day! The CSR project 'Utthan' (which focuses on improving educational outcomes in BMC schools throughout Mumbai), in collaboration with BMC and the commitment of BMC school educators and Utthan Sahayaks, successfully engaged students in crucial energy conservation awareness activities,” stated an official announcement.
“Through enjoyable activities like the 'Switch Off Game', creative science projects, and the Energy Pledge, this collaboration is actively nurturing a culture of energy efficiency among the youth,” it further mentioned.
Since its inception in 2021, Project Utthan has thrived under a public-private partnership involving BMC, the Adani Foundation, and Adani Electricity, with a mission to significantly improve the quality of education and learning outcomes in BMC schools across Mumbai.
This initiative prioritizes enhancing Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) among primary students, accomplished through engaging learning activities, development of valuable resources such as Reading Corners, and personalized support from dedicated Utthan Sahayaks, who assist BMC teachers in fostering student retention and academic success.
The project has made remarkable progress in transforming foundational education across 83 BMC schools located in Malad, Dahisar, Borivali, Chembur, and Kurla, directly benefiting over 25,000 students.
It has already demonstrated significant improvements in learning outcomes, student engagement, and the establishment of more enjoyable and inclusive classrooms.
The initiative also promotes holistic development by empowering teachers and involving the community.
Beyond just academic achievements, Project Utthan aims to revolutionize Mumbai’s public education system by establishing strong foundational learning environments.
This initiative is strategically aligned with enhancing the city’s performance in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) scheduled for 2027-28, focusing on ensuring that every child acquires essential literacy and numeracy skills.
Building upon this success, the project is set to expand from the academic years 2025-26 to 2027-28, covering Grades 1 to 4 across 947 municipal schools and reaching over 150,000 students.
