New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) The grand finale of India’s most significant 'GenAI Innovation Challenge' is set to take place on February 17 during the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’. Here, more than 300 students will have the chance to present their innovative AI solutions on an international platform aimed at addressing pressing social challenges, as announced on Friday.
Organized by OpenAI Academy and NxtWave Disruptive Technologies, the 'Buildathon' will showcase the talents of 300 students selected from an impressive pool of 70,000 participants.
Initiated in June 2025, the ‘Buildathon’ has opened doors for participants from tier 2 and 3 cities, encouraging them to learn, innovate, and apply AI tools to create practical solutions for Bharat.
Students are urged to leverage Generative AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), and contemporary AI frameworks to tackle challenges in sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, governance, climate action, and public services.
This ‘Buildathon’ is a pivotal initiative that aligns with the India AI Mission, aiming to bring AI education and innovation to students in smaller cities.
“The objective of the Buildathon is to connect Bharat’s youth with the globe's most innovative AI ecosystems. As India’s inaugural AI-focused summit, this ecosystem will provide students with valuable insights into how AI is evolving at scale across various industries,” stated Rahul Attuluri, CEO and Co-founder of NxtWave.
In preparation, the teams from OpenAI Academy and NxtWave conducted 8-hour hands-on workshops to equip students with the essential skills for developing GenAI projects.
The four-day 'India AI Impact Summit' will commence on February 16, anticipated to be the largest of the four global AI summits held to date.
Participating entities will include representatives from over 100 countries, featuring 15–20 heads of government, more than 50 ministers, and 40 CEOs from prominent global and Indian companies.
The summit will highlight 12 qualified Indian startups in fields such as healthcare and multilingual technology. This exposure is likely to attract foreign investment and talent, propelling India towards its aim of a $1 trillion digital economy by 2030.
