Progress on the investigation is moving swiftly, with the recovery of the black box from the ill-fated aircraft, as confirmed by the ministry.
In an official statement, the ministry highlighted that all necessary response and investigative protocols were activated right after the unfortunate incident.
“A thorough, transparent, and time-sensitive inquiry is our utmost priority,” the statement read.
Teams from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) have been dispatched to the crash site to investigate and determine the cause of this tragic event.
The ministry noted that a team consisting of three AAIB officers from Delhi and another trio from the DGCA's Mumbai Regional Office arrived at the crash site on January 28.
The Director General of AAIB, GVG Yugandhar, also reached the site the same day.
“The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is dedicated to completing the investigation within the stipulated timeframe, adhering strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines,” the statement added. The investigation commenced as per Rules 5 and 11 of the AAIB Rules, 2025.
In the meantime, the Pune Rural Police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at the Baramati Taluka Police Station related to the plane crash that resulted in the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, among others. Authorities stated that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
According to police reports, all factors concerning the accident are under scrutiny. The ADR will be forwarded to the Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which will carry out an investigation based on the findings from the AAIB team.
